Wormhole

Mobius Arch is one of the most photographed features in Alabama Hills. I had avoided photographing this rock formation earlier in this evening during sunset simply because I struggled to find a unique composition that hasn't already been done by so many others. After dinner, when the remaining twilight had faded and the stars were shining bright, I decided to hike back out to the arch to photograph it at night. By this point, thin clouds had began to move back in, creating a soft glow to the stars behind them. You can also faintly see the Milkyway galaxy just behind the top of the arch. I used speedlights, gels, and the light of my cell photo to illuminate the scene with the intent of creating something new at a feature that has been photographed by many before me.
